Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony between Oklahoma State University (OSU), USA & Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT)

Under the witness of the delegation from OSU, Prof. Stephan Wilson, Dean of College of Human Environmental Sciences; Prof. Richard Ghiselli, Director of School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration, Prof. Sue Williams, Head of Department of Human Development and Family Sciences, and Prof. Hailin Qu, Director of the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research, Dr. Fanny Vong, President of IFT signed the Memorandum of Understanding between OSU and IFT today at 1600 in the auditorium of IFT.

        Oklahoma State University was founded in 1890, which is a public university providing 4-year programmes. It is one of the branches of the Oklahoma State University System and has been listed in the US universities Top 200 of “The Insider's Guide to the Colleges of Yale Daily News”. Its vocational training also has been listed in the US universities Top 10 since 1996. The similarity on the academic programme between the Hotel and Restaurant Administration, OSU and IFT, where learning is “hands-on” and provides a bridge between the classroom and professional practice in the field. Besides the theoretical lectures, 800-hour internship is also one of the essential elements on accomplishment.

        With the rapid growth and development on Macao’s tourism and hospitality industry in recent years, many large-scale international entertainment complexes inaugurated, leading to a high demand on human resources, thus quality tourism education becomes the critical factor to meet the industry’s need. IFT strives to seek for diversified development, the expansion of international network, joint projects, compact communication with the World Tourism Organization and many higher institutions from overseas and Mainland China, helps to maintain our programmes meeting international standard.

        With the implementation of this memorandum of understanding, OSU and IFT foreseen the tremendous cooperative opportunities in research, cultural and academic exchange, as well as a great opportunity to enable American to take a step ahead Macao and Asian culture.
