Where can I find more information about UNESCO-ICCROM Asian Academy for Heritage Management (AAHM)?

The Asian Academy for Heritage Management (AAHM) is a network of institutions throughout Asia and the Pacific region that offers professional training in the field of cultural heritage management. Under the guidance of UNESCO and ICCROM, AAHM promotes integrated, holistic and multi-disciplinary management of heritage resources, including both tangible and intangible expressions of culture. How can I know more about the Institute For Tourism Studies?

The Institute For Tourism Studies (IFT), established in 1995, is a public institution of higher education of the Macao SAR Government, offering tourism, heritage, hospitality, tourism event and tourism retail and marketing management degree programmes, as well as professional training. In 2000, IFT became the first World Tourism Organization UNWTO.TedQual certified institution in tourism education. More information on IFT can be found at http://www.ift.edu.mo.


About Macao

I want to know more about Macao. Is there any website on this?

Macao (also spelled "Macau", after the Portuguese version), is a World Heritage city with a history of 450 years. It is a vibrant city that attracted about 30 million visitors in 2008! Macao is also renowned for its casinos. The casino industry in Macao is considered the world's largest in terns of revenues earned by the industry.


The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) website http://www.macautourism.gov.mo/ is an excellent place to start exploring Macao. The website covers almost everything that a visitor needs to know about Macao, inlcuding accommodation and food. It is published in ten different languages!

I'll travel via Hong Kong. Do I need visas for Hong Kong and Macao?

Can you advise me on hotel accommodation in Macao?

There will be free shuttle bus service for the conference participants with stops at three points in Macao peninsula with a number of hotels nearby. You will find the shuttle bus route and the hotel list here.

Is the discount rate for AAHM members for only individual members of AAHM? Our faculty is an institutional member of AAHM, but we don't have any membership number which is required to be filled in for the registration.

Institutional members are also eligible for the AAHM rate as long as the person registering is directly affiliated with that institution. Please note that in some cases a specific department or unit of a university or organization is an AAHM member; in such cases, the person registering must be a student or staff of that department or unit.

Is there any registration waiver / scholarship that I can apply for?

We are currently offerring a scholarships to postgraduate students only.  Details of the scholarship are available on our conference website. This scholarship covers the registration fee for a successful applicant.  There is no allowance for travel or accommodation.


Can the conference organizers help me with visa application?

Upon successful registration and payment, you can use the confirmation letter generated by the computer for your visa application process.  However, getting the immigration clearance is the registrant’s responsibility and the conference organizers do not deal with immigration issues.
