30/09/2020 2047/034REL/RP/2020

IFTM claimed a prestigious PATA Gold Award for Human Capital Development Initiative for its “Tourism Education Student Summit” (TEd Summit) event. It is the third time IFTM receiving a PATA Gold Award. The Gold Award is in recognition of the value of the Institute’s programmes, which is also a big encouragement to its students and faculty members.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) said the TEd Summit showcased the best student research and proved IFTM had made good on its promise to nurture professional talent. The TEd Summit was also commended for its role in connecting future industry leaders and current key industry stakeholders.

IFTM’s TEd Summit – introduced in 2016 – sees the best daytime programme students in the final year of their Bachelor of Science studies present the findings of their respective research thesis/project. The individual research thesis/project requirement for undergraduate study helps equip students with the knowledge and skills to identify problems, to monitor trends and to make informed decisions.

In 1997, the Institute was awarded a Gold Award in the Education and Training category for the high quality of its educational programmes. The second award came in 2002, recognising its role in developing the “Macao Occupational Skills Recognition System” with the industry. The PATA Gold Awards presentation was held online on 24 September. Macao received four Grand and Gold Awards for its exceptional achievements in different areas of the tourist industry.
