The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) has cemented its position as a leading global provider of education in hospitality and leisure management by achieving its highest rating in the “QS World University Rankings by Subject”.
IFTM was 14th worldwide, 2nd in Asia and 1st in Macao, among higher education institutions in hospitality and leisure management, according to the “QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020”. It was the highest position achieved by the Institute since the ratings service began covering this field in 2017.
Publisher QS Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd considered a total of 1,636 institutions around the world for the 2020 ranking for hospitality and leisure management. That compared with 1,346 institutions surveyed for the 2019 ranking. IFTM’s overall position in the 2020 global ranking for hospitality and leisure management is a remarkable achievement. Last year, the Institute was No. 33 in the same subject ranking.
The QS World University Rankings creates a list of the world’s top universities and institutes based on several criteria. The rankings according to subject have been released each year since 2011 and consider academic reputation, reputation among employers, citations per academic paper, and a metric for measuring the productivity and impact of the work published by each institution’s team of scholars and researchers. The rankings by subject are a tool to help prospective students identify leading higher education institutions.
This year’s rankings by subject were released on 4 March, covering a total of 48 academic subjects. Rankings can be viewed at www.topuniversities.com.
