The National Tourism Talent Training Base mainly undertakes training demonstration projects and key special training projects of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as well as training projects entrusted by local tourism authorities, associations, enterprises and public institutions, conducts market-oriented training for the tourism industry, carries out theoretical research on tourism talent training and develops targeted and practical training projects, courses and materials.
The National Tourism Talent Training Base should provide trainees with high quality and efficient training services, especially the training of new theories, new knowledge, new technologies and new methods, so as to effectively improve trainees' occupational quality and professional level, and enhance their learning ability, practical ability and innovation ability.
On 13 December 2019, IFTM was officially approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as the relying unit of the Macao SAR and listed as the Tourism Education and Training Base for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, undertaking the task of tourism training and talent cultivation, and providing a professional platform of tourism talent training for authorities, enterprises and public institutions in tourism.
In addition to Macao, there are five more National Tourism Talent Training Bases in China, which adopt the model of Bureau and Province Co-construction. The National Winter Tourism Talent Training Base has been set up in Changchun, Jilin province. The National Cultural Tourism Talent Training Base has been set up in Zhengzhou, Henan province. The National All-for-one Tourism Talent Training Base has been set up in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. The National Marine Tourism Talent Training Base has been set up in Xiamen, Fujian province. The National Rural Tourism Talent Training Base has been set up in Chengdu, Sichuan province.
