Objective: This course introduces students to intangible cultural heritage (ICH), which includes – with many variations – rituals, festivals, oral traditions and languages, performances, traditional crafts, as well as customs, histories, and stories. The course aims to help students understand the nature and value of ICH and how one can document, safeguard, and present or interpret it to others in the context of learning, appreciation, and transmission. In this course, the students will learn how ICH forms an integral part of the cultural capital of a locality and the appropriate ways of incorporating it in cultural heritage planning and development.
