Objective:

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
• Comprehend the context development of Macao history
• Talk about the accomplishments and failures of foreign trade and the achievements of cultural exchange between the East and the West
• Gain some basic knowledge about Historic Centre of Macao World Heritage Site

The Development History of Macao
• The maritime trade during the pre-founding period of Macao
• Sino-Portuguese sovereignty during Ming and Qing dynasty
• Macao under the colonial rule in the 19th century
• The historical role of Macao in the cultural exchange between the East and the West
