Remarks:

  1. Each PhD candidate will be assigned a supervisory team consisting of a minimum of two supervisors. If deemed necessary, a candidate may be requested to take relevant course(s) at the postgraduate level offered by IFT or other approved higher education institutions.

  2. PhD candidates must produce meaningful and original research (40,000 to 80,000 words) which showcases innovative ideas, planning and synthesising abilities. The research must be able to demonstrate competence in critically analysing, evaluating and providing comprehensive and in-depth analysis on a phenomenon in the field of hospitality and tourism. A candidate should only apply for oral defence after achieving the following publication requirements:
    1. At least one paper accepted for full-length publication by an international conference approved by IFT in the related discipline (topic of PhD thesis); AND
    2. At least one paper published or accepted for publication by an international refereed journal in the related discipline (topic of PhD thesis) ranked B or above on the ABDC (Australian Business Deans Council) list or equivalent;
    3. The candidate should be the lead author in at least one of the above and at least a second author in the other(s).
