In the shorter term, prolonged viewing of a computer screen can make your vision defects more noticeable. It can also   give you what is sometimes known as "computer vision syndrome" – eye strain, headaches, gritty eyes and blurry vision. But this is only temporary and can be minimized by:

Adjusting the contrast and brightness screen display to a suitable level which you feel comfortable. Ensure the lighting does not produce glare on the screen.

Blink your eyes
Secretion of tears can be done by simply blinking your eyes to maintain moist, which is especially important for contact lens wearers! Many people are too focused at work, lead to a long time staring at the computer screen and forget to even blink your eyes, that will cause dry eye discomfort.

Eyes movement
If you sit in front of your computer desk for over an hour, you can try to do some eye movement, for example: Look up and exhale, look to the middle and inhale, repeat three times, and then proceed to the left and right, repeat the same action.

Breath
Is it going to help by just breathing? Yes, in fact, when you breath, it can accelerate the blood circulation, many people who is staring at the computer will often slow down the respiratory rate.  Please remind yourself to maintain smooth breathing and relax.

Have a break
Take a short break to allow your eyes to relax, it would be best to leave your seat and look at some distant area for approximately 10 seconds, that will help a great deal to protect your eyes

Health food
Constantly eating the food which are good for eyes will also have some degree of help, For example, deep-sea fish containing large amounts of DHA, it can maintain good development of the retina of your eyes and prevent disease and cataract too. In addition, carrot, lemon, blueberry, nuts, liver, etc, not only can increase the body's antioxidant substances, but can also effectively protect your eyes too!

Eat a variety of fruits
Eat more citrus, green vegetables, grain, fish and eggs. Drink plenty of water also help to relieve dry eyes.

Not to wear contact lenses
If you have less secretion of tears and having dry eyes easily, please wear a pair of glasses when using the computer rather than wearing contact lenses. Preferably wear the contact lenses with high oxygen permeability.

Adjust the computer screen distance
Maintain a distance of 50-70 cm to the computer screen and the screen should be slightly below eye level position by 10-20 cm, with 15-20 degree view. It can reduce on refractive demand and reduce eye fatigue.

Maintain a good working posture
To maintain a good working posture, keep eye level or a bit downward looking at the computer screen, so that the neck muscles are relaxed and the eye is exposed to the air is reduced.

In order to maintain eye health, people should avoid eating sweets and garlic, especially for elderly people and children, but of course here refer to the excessive consumption of the above food.
