Aim & Scope

The Institute For Tourism Studies is proud to launch the first journal in Macau dedicated to research and professional news, views and in-depth discourse on tourism and hospitality, and their myriad related fields of study and practice. Never before in the history of humankind has so many people travelled so much for so many reasons than now, generating wide-ranging ramifications for businesses, professionals, policy-makers and researchers. Never before has so much discussion focused on these political, legal-administrative, economic, socio-cultural, technological and environmental ramifications. Tourism & Hospitality E-Review (THeR) is created to capture and stimulate this discussion, and to bridge the traditional gulf between practitioners and academics in tourism and hospitality. All contributions are welcome, and will be published online if found consistent and supportive of THeR's objectives. Adopting the web-based format allows the convenient collection of contributions from individuals, and their dissemination, anywhere in the world, so as to create a virtual community of learning.

The specific objectives that Tourism & Hospitality E-Review (THeR) hopes to achieve are:

  • To publish substantial empirical or conceptual research articles contributing towards advancing the understanding of tourism, hospitality and related disciplines.

  • To report completed and ongoing research projects and academics’ views and insights into past, present and future developments.

  • To present industry best practices, and practitioners’ news and views about the issues and breakthroughs in their spheres of operation and influence.
