Leeds Metropolitan University

 

Leeds Metropolitan University is one of the most popular universities in the country with over 27,000 students and 2,800 staff. The University was rated the top university in UK for language support, accommodation quality and learning spaces in the 2010 International Student Barometer. Leeds Metropolitan is a warm, welcoming and professional university with four faculties: a) Arts, Environment & Technology, b) Business & Law, c) Carnegie as well as d) Health and Social Sciences.

   

Institute for Tourism Studies(IFT)

 

Institute for Tourism Studies, Macao, established in 1995, is a public institution of higher education which offers culinary, tourism, heritage, hospitality, tourism event, and tourism retail and marketing management degree programmes, as well as professional trainings. In "The 2008 Award Ceremony of Medals and Titles of Honour of the Macao SAR Government, People's Republic of China" held in January 2009, IFT was awarded the Medal of Merit for Tourism in recognition of its significant contributions in advancing local tourism development.

   

Goals and Objectives

To build up students' knowledge about cultural tourism through participation in lectures and exploring about the museums and tourism destinations in Leeds.
   
To develop students' social networking skills and successful mindset through the international exchange.
   
To enhance the professional knowledge and skills of students on distinguishing practical issues about tourism, hospitality and local cultures in Leeds, to cultivate students who are interested to devote themselves to the tourism and hospitality industry, to help students understand the contents of tourism and hospitality programmes as well as their trends of development, to promote and popularize distinguishing practical issues, with aims to aid students with their career planning, guiding them to become professionals in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Participants will be awarded a certificate of attendance upon successful completion.

Shops in town are open on Sundays until 1600 or 1700

  • Undergraduate students of higher education institutions from different countries; testimonials from home institutions proving current
    registration status are required.
  • Good command of English; as the medium of instruction of this programme is English.

Fees

  • Programme fee:
    £550 (Five hundred and fifty pounds), this includes:
    a) Accommodation in one of the student residences, on a bed and breakfast basis.
    b) Lunch for 5 days while on other days as the programme indicated, students could make their own independent decisions since the venues being visited offer many choices and alternatives.
    c) Transport to and from the venues being visited as part of the programme.
    d) Transport cost for bus fare between accommodation and university campus.

  • Travel insurance:

    Participants are required to purchase their own insurance policy covering their period of stay and the travelling between their home and the destination

  • Miscellaneous:

    Participants should budget their own personal miscellaneous expenses
