We invite authors to submit original and unpublished papers which will be subject to a double-blind review process. Post refereed final papers should not exceed 15 pages including references, tables and figures. Accepted papers will be published in a conference proceedings electronic file with an ISSN number. Awards for best papers nominated by the review panel will be given. All submissions and presentations should be in English. Key dates:

31 July 2009, Authors notified of review outcome
30 September 2009, Deadline for submitting final paper
Submission will be done by file uploading on this website for which instructions will be issued soon. Please email all submissions to Ms. Connie Loi of the Conference Secretariat at: conference@ift.edu.mo.
Once a paper has been accepted for publication in the proceedings, at least one author of the paper must register by 30 September 2009 (see registration details). Submission of full paper implies transfer of copyright to the editor of the conference proceedings.


Review

All submitted abstracts and full papers will undergo a double-blind review process. Papers published in the conference proceedings will be denoted either as being accepted on the basis of an abstract or full paper submission. Reviewers will base acceptance of papers for publication in the proceedings on the following criteria:

Relevance of the problem or topic to the study of tourism branding and marketing
Substantiveness and originality of issues raised and formulation of problem
Extensive reference to prior literature, previous studies or the use of solid grounded approach to concept development
For case studies and other qualitative approaches, the richness of data obtained and presented
Methodological rigour and generalizability of findings in the case of empirical studies
Significance of contribution to the field
Readability of paper for both academic and practitioner audiences

Formatting for full papers
Papers should be formatted using Microsoft Word and in accordance to the following format or style:

Paper size should be A4, portrait orientation, left margin should be 1.5 inches, top 1.25”, right 1.25”, bottom 1.25”. All sections typed in single space with double spacing between paragraph. Font should be Times New Roman, size 12. APA format for references. There should be neither headings nor footers in the final paper; no page numbers should be included. Where appropriate, final submitted papers should contain the following sections:

    * Abstract (Max. 250 words and one paragraph only)
    * Keywords (6 keywords maximum)
    * Introduction
    * Literature Review
    * Methodology
    * Findings
    * Conclusion
The editors reserve the right not to include in the conference proceedings papers not adhering to the formatting guidelines.

Special issue of IJCTHR on Destination Branding and Marketing 
Professor Arch Woodside, Editor-in-Chief of the highly respected International Journal of Culture, Tourism and Hospitality Research (Emerald), has extended an invitation for a special journal issue compiled from the best papers and articles from the 3rd DBM conference. 
Guest editor for this special IJCTHR issue will be Dr. Rich Harrill,  a keynote speaker in the conference and member of the scientific committee. The special issue is expected to be published in mid- or late 2010.

Submitting extended abstracts?

Authors submitting extended abstracts for review should ensure that it does not exceed three pages in length (or approximately between 1000 to 1500 words). Authors may follow the guidelines here in writing the extended abstract. The 250-word limit for abstract indicated above applies only to those submitting full papers for review. Deadline for BOTH extended abstracts and full paper submissions is 31 May 2009.  All extended abstracts and full paper submissions undergo a double blind review process. The chair of the paper review committee will issue acceptance letters certifying that acceptance was based on a review of the full paper OR extended abstract, as the case may be.
