Objective:

This course will teach relevant accounting terms and concepts as they apply in the hospitality industry. Students will learn the relevance of various transaction types and accounting principles, how to assign the proper category when processing a transaction, and how to track the financial performance of a business. In addition, this course will cover basic techniques of budgeting and cash flow planning, of which are essential for events/project preparation/management, like exhibition. The course adopts a practical, non-technical approach, making it the ideal course for students from non-accounting disciplines.

  • Processing accounting transactions/procedures
  • Special-Purpose Journals and Subsidiary Ledgers
  • Payroll Accounting
  • Property and Equipment, and Inventories
  • Receivables, Payables, and Corporation Accounting
  • Financial statements
  • Measuring and reporting cash flows
  • Analysing and interpreting financial statements, position and performance
  • Budgeting and cash flow projection
