Internship Programme

Description || Guidelines || Achnowledgement

Thank you for participating in this scheme. In order to maintain the smooth operation in your organization during this 3-week practicum period, the following guidelines have been designed. Your adherence to these guidelines is highly appreciated with the hope that both your organization and our students can benefit maximally from this scheme.
1.
The duration of the program is 3 weeks per scholastic year. The practicum will usually start in June/July/August.
2. Student trainees are seconded on a random selection basis and report to the industry partner
3.
The industry partner would be responsible for assigning the trainees to a task or function (in a relevant department of the partner's choosing) that will seek to accomplish most of the program objectives (please refer to point 2 in "Description")
4.
The industry partner would be responsible for appointing a functional supervisor who will direct and supervise the activities and task of the trainees and to whom the trainees will report directly.
5.
Once the trainees are assigned to the industry partner, the partner can deal with the trainees in a manner they would to any full-time staff member in the organization. The partner can prematurely terminate a trainee's appointment but only after consulting with IFT.
6.
The functional supervisor would be responsible for evaluating and assessing the performance of the trainees. An evaluation form will be provided for the supervisor to fill in for further improvement. In addition, s/he would be responsible for signing the time sheets of the trainees.
7.
The industry partner would also be responsible for the health, security and well being of the trainees while performing duties under the partner's care. By this we mean that the trainees should not be sent to perform any tasks that carry high risk or outside Macao. However, all the students who work under TIES are covered by insurance provided by IFT.
8. Unless otherwise specified by the industry partner, the trainees will be performing their functions in IFT uniform. Regardless of the dress code the trainees will eventually adopt, each trainee will be required to wear an IFT student badge.
9. Should the industry partner require them to adopt the organization's uniform, the industry partner would shoulder the burden of providing a uniform set and laundry services for the trainees.
10. Occasional on-site visits will be made by Faculty advisers from IFT subject to prior consultation and arrangements with the functional supervisors directly or through the industry partner.
11. Upon satisfactory completion, the industry partner should issue a certificate / testimonial to the trainee.
12. A student who fails his/her practicum is required to retake it in the following year in order to graduate.
13. Should you have queries concerning the above, please contact the TIES coordinator, Ms. Connie Loi (Tel: 85983122 or E-mail: connie@ift.edu.mo) or Ms. Frances Kong (Tel: 85983-082 or E-mail:frances@ift.edu.mo).
