  G1.0 Application Process
G1.1 Students should plan ahead and liaise directly with the Human Resources/Personnel Manager of the desired internship provider(s) to decide on the details of the internship arrangements (See Policy 4.0 – Application for internship).
G1.2 Students should submit the Letter of Confirmation prepared by the internship provider(s), together with all relevant information about the internship arrangements such as the commencement of internship, the provisions of workplace uniform, food, accommodation, and transportation, etc, to the IC for final approval by 23 May 2008 (deadline for those who will be performing their internship during the 1st semester) or by 19 December 2008 (deadline for those who will be performing their internship during the 2nd semester).
G1.3 Students should obtain the Internship Document Package including the Cover Letter, Acknowledgement Letter, Internship Logbook (enclosed with Final Internship Provider Evaluation Forms and postage-paid envelopes) and Internship Agreement from the Registry before commencing the internship training.
 
 
  G2.0 Assessment and Evaluation
G2.1 During the internship period, IC members may do site-visits, some of which may be unannounced, primarily to review the students’ performance.
G2.2 At the end of every work week, students should complete a weekly journal in their Internship Logbook and request their manager / supervisor to sign it and return it to the students.
G2.3
Every four weeks, except the last month of an internship when the final evaluation is to be completed, students should request their manager / supervisor to fill out the Interim Performance Appraisal in the Internship Logbook and make progress of themselves based on the comments made by their supervisors.
G2.4 Before the end of the internship placement, students should submit the Final Internship Provider Evaluation Form to the Department Manager who is to complete the form, sign it, enclose in a sealed envelope, post it to the Institute For Tourism Studies, or have it returned by the students within 14 calendar days after the last day of the internship.
G2.5 At the end of the 6 months’ internship period, students should submit the Internship Logbook to the IC within 14 calendar days after the last day of the internship. At the beginning of every calendar year, the Registry will point out key dates regarding to internship placement and submission dates for the requirement. Students are responsible for finding out the concerned dates.
G2.6 Evaluation results will be shown in the academic report / transcript and will be marked as (P) Pass or (F) Fail.
G2.7 All the Internship Logbooks will be given back to the students concerned when the final internship grades have been approved by the IC and no dissent on the final grades has been revealed by the students.
 
 
  G3.0 Deferral
G3.1 Students cannot change or cancel their internship placements without approval of the IC.
 
 
  G4.0 Problems with the internship provider
G4.1 Students should first try to directly resolve any problems arising with their internship provider. When all reasonable attempts to solve the problem have failed, the students should contact the IC for advice and assistance.
