The use of events as a strategy for promoting destinations continues to increase, and with this the drive to form more unique and hybrid forms of events, spurred by the growing competitiveness of destinations to capture a piece of the tourist pie. Therefore this course will take on the role as a platform for discussion on contemporary issues effecting and driving the use of events as major tourism marketing and promotional strategies for a growing number of destinations. Case studies will also be included to highlight the issues under discussion.
