The “Macao Library Week 2017”, organized by the Macao Public Library under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) and the Macao Library and Information Management Association (MLIMA), and co-organized by the Wu Yee Sun Library under the University of Macau, was inaugurated on 22 April, at 10:30am, at the Old Court Building. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leung Hio Ming; the Head of the Department of Public Library Management, Tang Mei Lin; the Head of the Division of Continuing Education of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Kong Ngai; the Head of the Centre of Permanent Education of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Cheong Kuai San; and the Director of the Macao Library and Information Management Association, Wong Kwok Keung.

A number of activities, including a charity sale of archived periodicals, book exchange, bookcrossing, hand puppet shows in English, reading accessories workshops such as “Marbling Bookmarks DIY” and “Non-woven Fabric Memo Holder DIY”, a German comic book exhibition and game booths, among others, will also be held during the promotional period, from 22 to 25 April.

This year’s “Macao Library Week” is themed “Reading and Images”, aiming to broaden reading perspectives and explore the interrelationship between images and reading, allowing images to provoke imagination in reading. Registration for the activities of the “Macao Library Week” are already open.
